Little Italy San Jose would fill the current lease opportunities in the River Street area with Italian Businesses and ideally, renovate the remaining houses in the district through a variety of partnerships. The Little Italy area would then continue under the 87 overpass where the Italian Cultural Center would be located, along with mixed use development with commercial businesses on the ground floor and residences above.
We would utilize the 87 underpass to connect the HP Pavilion and the River Street area of Little Italy to the proposed Italian Cultural Center, the San Jose Public Market, and San Pedro Square. We would propose working with the Italian Community and First Act Silicon Valley to create Murals of Italy and the Italian History of San Jose on the cement walls of the underpass and to have temporary food vendors along the walkway.
Entrance off Santa Clara Street and Notre Dame Avenue where we propose a Little Italy Arch. Notre Dame Avenue is the site of the DeAnza hotel and La Pastaia Italian Restaurant and the future home of the Italian Cultural Center.
